Mercedes Sprinter Factory Options
We purchased a van from inventory at our local Mercedes dealer, constraining us somewhat on the options. Here are some of our thoughts on the options we ended up with:
- All Wheel Drive: We are unlikely to do any significant off-roading, but we do want the confidence, clearance and traction to navigate on minimally maintained forest, park and back roads.
- Factory Swivel Seats: We wanted both seats to fully swivel and we are quite happy with the factory installed option. I have not researched after-market options, but I imagine the factory installed options minimizes the lift. Another benefit is the parking break is integrated in with the swivel seat and not a barrier to get around. The passenger seat is still a bit too high for us so I built a small foot stool that seconds as another storage place. (add picture)
- Manual Sliding Door: We really did not have the option for the electrical assist on the sliding door. It is a heavy door and takes some effort especially if you are on a slope and working against gravity. We are okay having the manual door and appreciate having one less electrical device that can fail. We do have and appreciate the 2-stage opening option which provides a convenient half-way stop.
- Rear Door 270-degree Opening: This allows our rear doors to swing open to the sides of the van. It is great for creating a wide open view out the back of the van that we can enjoy.(add picture)
- Digital Interior Mirror: Our rear view mirror is a camera off the back of the van. It takes some getting used to but I think a necessary safety feature. We also have 360-degree camera view to assist with parking.
- Other Safety Features: Some other features we really appreciate include adaptive cruise control, lane assist, crosswind assist, and active brake assist.
