Here is a running log of issues we have experience that have required service. Consider it a “single data point” on the reliability of the Sprinter Van.

Engine Warning: “DEF System Fault, 10 Emerg Starts Remaining”

This turned out to be a faulty DEF level sensor. The DEF tank was full, but the sensor was reading zero. The entire tank assembly was replaced under warranty. This was a pretty major issue to happen at low mileage. I guess I am happy it occurred while still under warranty. I learned later that the “10 Emerg Starts Remaining” meant the software in the Sprinter was going to disable the engine after 10 more starts. Scary to think this was going to happen due to a faulty sensor. I sure hope I don’t run into something like this when I am out on a remote adventure. Yikes!.
